Harold Wood Sports Pavilion, Essex

Elliott Off-Site Building Solutions was awarded the contract for the new development of a Sport Pavilion for the London Borough of Havering. The 550m2 facility was an investment in the local community to encourage sporting activities with particular focus on cricket through the summer months.

The building was constructed on behalf of Harold Wood Sports Association and included a large social area with a bar and a folding partition and seating area which provides space for other social events/meetings outside of normal activities.

In addition, the facilities included necessary changing, shower and storage provision and a 9-digit electric cricket scoreboard and 18” GRP clock tower.

Externally, the cricket netting and AstroTurf wickets were replaced and new fencing erected. Block paving was laid to the pavilion entrance and path area around the perimeter of the building. Also included in the package was the re-seeding of the immediate grassed area and resurfacing of the car park.

A robust design was necessary because of the vulnerable location of the facility. The design includes electrically operated roll down shutters to the aluminium windows and doors, re-enforced roof trusses with high impact roof tiles and a brick and render finish.

Elliott Off-Site’s timber frame and panel system was utilised to fast-track the build programme and a well-established supply chain ensured quality finishes against a rapid programme.

Elliott Off-Site offered a full turnkey package and came in on budget and on programme in just 20 weeks.
