Ursuline High School Extension
At Ursuline High School in Ilford the new 3-storey extension has been added to the existing High School to create a vibrant modern school complex with a strong identity that produces a coherent and stimulating educational environment.
At the front of the school the principal façade is constructed with a curving wall with a mosaic tiled cross inset into a rendered finish. The building covers 1170m2 over 3 floors and provides eight classrooms, four group rooms and offices. A number of energy saving features were incorporated into the design such as heat recovery units, PIR activated lighting and condensing boilers.
This was one of the most logistically challenging projects Elliott Off-Site Building Solutions has delivered, primarily due to limited site access and the live school environment. Furthermore, the building was constructed above the main school entrance which had to be maintained at all times and also abutted a busy high street pub and residential apartments.
The project was delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard. This was achieved by working in partnership with the school and communicating with the local community, business owners, residential owners and the local emergency services.
“I have been very happy with Elliott Off-Site’s performance for a number of years. The Contracts Manager and site staff are very pleasant and professional in their dealings with the school and Local Authority staff.”
