British Nuclear Group looked into reducing costs and decided to stop hiring portable buildings at their Wylfa Power Station in Cemaes Bay, Anglesey housing contractors and project teams.
Project Information
Elliott Modular Buildings have supplied and installed various buildings at the Wylfa nuclear power station in Cemaes Bay, Anglesey. The portable building blocks have replaced temporary buildings that were being used to house contractors and project teams at the power station, which started generating electricity in 1971 and is British Nuclear Fuels’ (BNFL) largest reactor.
Buildings were used for the following:
- Phase 1 – Double storey building totalling 20 no. modules used for offices, common mess rooms and locker change facilities
- Phase 2 – Double storey building totalling 24 no. modules used for office space, meeting rooms, conference suite and kitchen facilities
- Phase 3 – Double storey building totalling 20 no. modules used for training facilities
- Phase 4 – Single storey building totalling 9 no. modules used as a simulator building
