Relocatable Equipment Buildings (REBs)
Main Drivers/ Constraints
Back in 2003 talks began with Network Rail who had a requirement as part of a trackside communications upgrade between signaller and driver, to enhance rail travel safety.
Project Description
The REB’s developed to meet their requirements are fitted out with telecoms equipment by others and then placed trackside at locations throughout the UK. A initial 3-year agreement was signed between NWR and Elliott to provide all the REB’s for this project with the most common module size being 3.6 x 2.4m (single and three phase), however there is an 8.4m, a 7.2m.
Benefits/Key Features
The REB is fitted out to an extremely high specification with each corresponding cabin designed to be exactly the same in appearance and layout, thus providing a consistent well managed equipment room space, insulated, cooled and highly secure.
Within the REB’s air conditioning, 3-point locking doors, bottom lift, stainless steel cable management, intricate electrical design with specialist cable entry system are all incorporated to the highest standard as well as to Network Rails stringent requirements.
