Elliott was commissioned for their off-site building solutions by Arden Academy to design and build a new three storey multiple use teaching block located adjacent to the existing main hall.
The finished building consisting of 63 modules was assembled and fitted out in Elliott’s Assembly Plant with the modules around 70% complete when they were ready to leave.
Meanwhile, onsite the foundations and infrastructure were underway and being prepared for an Easter break installation. The on-site installation took just 8 days leaving the building to be completed inside and the external treatment of brickwork and render to commence.
Internally the building creates a light and airy atmosphere with Science rooms, IT suites and general teaching spaces. Each floor is accessed by two staircases and one 8 person passenger lift. There is a central atrium that provides natural lighting from the North Lights down to the entrance circulation area creating a wonderful feeling of space and light, the central wall provides a beautiful backdrop of colours, films and articles via strategically placed AV equipment.
Externally the building was complemented by introducing hard landscaping, general circulation areas and additional staff car parking.
"The project was very well managed by Elliott and completed on time and to budget. Communication between the school staff and Elliott people was excellent and the project team worked very hard to deliver to the needs of the school despite being asked to make numerous changes along the way."
