How long have you been working in construction?

Over 25years, the majority of which has been working as a Tier 1 Contractor in work winning pre- construction activity.

Why do you think it is important to have women working in what in theory is a male dominated working environment?

The history of the Suffragettes is not only about women, but also about men and the power of working together. It’s sometimes good to have people who challenge the norm, to instigate change as without challenge, we stand still. It’s just like a day in the life of Elliott’s!!!

Why do you love construction?

No two days are ever the same. It’s great to be able to impact on our built environment and make a difference to the quality of people’s lives.

Why is Elliott a good employer for equality?

Working out of Elliott’s Leeds office, where our permanent building solutions are delivered, we are approaching a 50/50 split of women/men. This is across all disciplines and grades including representation at Board level, work winning, business development, operational and commercial delivery plus administration. It’s a great and balanced place to work!!

Why do you think that the work the Suffragettes did is important?

The history of the Suffragettes is not only about women, but also about men and the power of working together. It’s sometimes good to have people who challenge the norm, to instigate change as without challenge, we stand still. It’s just like a day in the life of Elliott’s!!!
